I did a full clean through of my apartment last night, and I made a comprehensive list of everything that is made of plastic that I can replace with non-plastic materials.

https://www.change.org/p/ask-calgary-city-council-to-ban-single-use-plastic-bags <---  Sign the petition guys!  This is obviously for a great cause, and remember, "any small action done by a large group of people can make a huge difference".

Part of the reason why plastic is such a problem is that we sometimes forget that we aren't the only animals who love our oceans.  Being conscientious and aware is necessary!

Just walking through the mall last night I saw three different stores selling bamboo products, to replace plastic.  One of them was a bamboo pillow!  These companies are so proud of their environmental efforts and we should support this amazing world wide change by purchasing these revolutionary products!

Reducing plastic waste is as easy as purchasing larger containers of food than individually wrapped packaging.

We are almost halfway through July and I'm happy to say that my plastic free behaviors are becoming an automatic thing for me!

  • Diana Poitras 7/12/2018 9:55 AM
The easiest action I've found to avoid plastic waste so far is to eliminate plastic wrap.  Its so easy to find simple, safe alternatives!

Reducing your plastic use is simply keeping in mind we aren't the only animals that depend on our aquatic environments.

I'm getting great responses from friends and family about plastic free July when I post on social media.  Some of them didn't even know about the challenge but now their committed!
