    GREAT JOB MARYLAND ZOO TEAM!

I have reusable food bags in a variety of sizes (and fun designs like this one). They have really eliminated my need to use plastic sandwich bags! I even recently noticed similar products for sale at target - hooray for plastic free options becoming mainstream.

So far so good with the safety razor!

It’s disapointing how hard it can be to find certain produce without plastic in the grocery store. Mixed lettuce or spinach, cauliflower and cherry tomatoes are just a few I’ve had trouble with. It’s especially difficult when you are buying for a specific recipe and find you can’t get a star ingredient plastic free.

Everyone I have told about plastic free July has had postiive reactions which has been a pleasant and inspiring surprise for me.

Lots of rain means lots of trash and plastic items in the waterways :(. Mr. Trash Wheel is working overtime in Baltimore but makes a good point that it would be better if there was less trash in the first place.

Using only reusable contains has been a lot easier than expected. I already used Tupperware (and am in the process of switching to all glass), but when I stopped giving myself the option to use plastic wrap and plastic baggies, alternatives were easy to incorporate into my routine!

Does anyone have good recipes or resources they can recommend for DIY cleaning products?

    • MC Mandolia 7/24/2018 1:10 PM
Almost everything can be cleaned with a combination of white vinegar, water, and whatever essential oils you like. I use 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1 and 3/4 cup white vinegar, and 15 drops each of lavender and lemon essential oil. You can buy a glass/aluminum bottle with a spray nozzle, or you can reuse your plastic cleaner bottles until they break!
