This challenge has inspired me to start a blog to help others start reducing their plastic use and shop for sustainable products. My first post launched on Sunday! So excited to continue learning more about this and hopefully educate and inspire other people along the way!

I made it 31 days without buying bottled soda!  Although I would love to give up soda, I know there are days I crave it.  So instead, I have been buying cases of soda in aluminum cans and bringing it to work with me.  Since aluminum can be recycled an infinite number of times, it's a much better choice than plastic, which can usually only be recycled once or twice.

It's the last day of the challenge!  Make sure you log your actions!

Watched a documentary today. VICE - Plastic Oceans. Not sure I agree with the possible solutions they presented about our plastic problem but it was interesting to hear different perspectives.

I spent so much time researching a plastic-free face wash that was environmentally friendly. Found one I liked as well as a facial scrub and was really excited. Received it in the mail today only to have the box filled with plastic packaging. So disappointed! My cat didn’t seem to mind though.

I went to the store to buy some peppermint oil so that I can make homemade mouthwash (no more plastic bottles!). As I was paying for it, I noticed the cashier was wrapping the glass bottle in bubble wrap to put in a plastic bag! I asked if I could put the bottle in my purse instead and told him I was trying to go plastic free. He seemed really enthusiastic about the idea. It's crazy how much plastic is part of everyday life!

Congrats to volunteer Brianna Montgomery who won last week's giveaway! This week's drawing will be for 2 sets of reusable sandwich bags, 1 set of 3 reusable food wraps, 1 bamboo utensil set, and 1 Zoo canvas bag. Any staff, Zoo Crew volunteers, and CYTs that log in and complete at least 1 action this week will be entered in to win! Each day you log an action is an entry. Keep up the great work!

No single use plastic bags for me today! And I got to use one of our new cotton mesh produce bags!

Brought my refillable souvenir cup to the Beastro today instead of buying bottled soda!

Traded in my plastic loofah for a natural sea sponge, which can supposedly last a few years! I love it so far! I bought it from an Etsy shop that details their harvesting practices, which I liked.
