The final day is here!!!!  Its bittersweet and celebratory.  I loved checking in every day and taking the Challenge to become Plastic Free.  Success!!!! I have added a number of challenges that habit become an integral part of my eco-sustainable lifestyle.

The item I find most useful in addition to the "reusable green Maryland Zoo bag is "eliminating plastic trash bags by lining my kitchen can with news paper." Thus, zero contribution to the landfill and cost savings to my budget. A win-win 🤗

I'm excited to visit the Druid Hill, Museum of Industry and Pigtown Farmers Markets this week.   A journey to find weekly markets  to sustain "no plastics" meals.

  • Mary B 7/29/2018 4:32 AM
I have also signed up the "Catalog Choice  Support" project to stop junk mail from appearing in my mailbox.

  • Mary B 7/29/2018 4:29 AM
Going forward I will be selecting 1 doable pledge from each Challenge Categiry and post what I've  accomplished/plan-to-do biweekly on FB.  It will be my pledge to keep Plastic Free July alive for weeks, months and years to come.  Today I will select the "doable actions" and note them at the top of each designated week of my Plannet Book.

  • Mary B 7/29/2018 4:05 AM
Question from 7/28:  the pledge which is most challenging; make 2 zero (single use package) plastic daily.  Why? From the grocery store something always comes in plastic especially fruits such as berries.  Pre-planning and purchasing from local farmers markets would help because they package In  cardboard pint/quart green boxes or loose.  Yes, pre planning canning, freezing and weekly local market shopping would help.  Isn't that how the French eat?

  • Mary B 7/28/2018 3:40 PM
Although I don't work in a conventional office  setting, I can apply this Challenge to my apt community and community events. Instead of providing plastic cups the residents could be urged to bring their own reusable cup from home.  I will share this with the property manager.

  • Mary B 7/28/2018 6:25 AM
Finally, the sun is out and the temp and humidity are manageable.  Windows are open, one of my kittens is watching her birdie friends fly around and  I'm tackling my closets to "weed out non-natural fiber clothes" and make a list of clothes to fill in the gaps.  It will not take long because more than 50% of my clothes are classic, natural fiber pieces
